Tomorrow and the start of 36 weeks to LOUISVILLE

Hello ladies,
Tomorrow is a big day for me. I have to finally get off my butt and start getting back into routine if I want to be able to finish this beast. Boo, thanks for the email from the finisher. It scared me so much that I finally went to swim practice last week and rejoined the masters team. 6am is much earlier than i remember it to be!!!

Being in the profession that I am in I had to make a post today. I have seen so many people put everything they have into training for a beast like this and end up with an injury. You guys have been varsity athletes and know your body pretty well, however come july when we are putting 100 miles in on a saturday and trying to run after you just have to HAVE to be smart. Just go with your body and how you feel.
For that reason I think everyone should keep a log. Beginner triathlete.com has a great one for free, if you find anything else, use it. Its amazing how you can see a trend in things like soreness, sleep and fatigue pretty fast. Just remember to train smart. Which brings me to the plan we are starting. I absolutely detest garbage yardage. I like to go hard and go home and have some quality workouts unlike this one. I have talked a lot with the Duke Triathlon coach who's mantra is 4 quality workouts a week- brick (bike indoor/run) on tuesday, track work on thursday, hard bike on saturday (long), and long run sunday. He says rest or core work monday and swim wed and fri all easy recovery. I like this strategy because then you are getting something out of the workout each time.
For christmas I have asked for a mark fritzferald plan for this ironman. Its 24 weeks so I will use the trifuel one till then (or maybe the 1/2 fitzgerald plan I have). As soon as I get the plan I will let you guys know and we can go from there... It goes with the belief of training smart and having quality workouts.
I will email you the 1/2 plan so you can look at it and see what you think...I know we are all busy with lots of other things going on in our lives and quality workouts appeal to all of us.
Anyways I'll get off my pedestal and send you the email-
Train hard but train smart
Shef
p.s. I am not NOT doing anything on christmas or new years day other than eat...
